The City of Cedar Falls provides a full range of municipal services such as police, fire, library, parks, recreation, streets, garbage, and sewer services. The city budget year starts on July 1st. Budget requests for the upcoming budget year should be submitted to the Dept. of Administrative Services by August 15th of each year. The city funds social service programs from federal block grant funds, health programs from a hospital trust fund, cultural and tourist programs from hotel/motel tax revenue and some limited programs from the general fund. |

The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa is a permanent endowment made up of a collection of individual funds and resources donated by citizens to enhance and support the quality of life in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls and Northeast Iowa area.
Grants are awarded in areas of: Arts and Humanities, Community Affairs and Development, Education, Environmental Protection, Health, Historic Preservation, and Human Services.
Grant application deadlines are April 1st and October 1st each year.

| Leighty Foundation |
The Leighty Foundation is a private family foundation created in 1985 by Ike Leighty, the co- founder of Engineered Products Company. It is a general-purpose foundation, which most often funds in the areas of youth, education, service and volunteerism, and the environment. Capital projects are generally not considered, and grant size usually ranges from $5,000 to $10,000. Organizations wishing to be considered for a grant should send a one-page letter that includes: the mission of the organization, the need to be addressed, the intended outcome of the endeavor, and the size of the grant requested. |

The Silos & Smokestacks grant funds help sites, attractions, and communities tell the story of American agriculture in the following 37 northeastern Iowa counties: Allamakee, Benton, Black Hawk, Boone, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Cedar, Cerro Gordo, Chickasaw, Clayton, Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Fayette, Floyd, Franklin, Grundy, Hamilton, Hardin, Howard, Iowa, Jackson, Jasper, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Marshall, Mitchell, Polk, Poweshiek, Scott, Story, Tama, Winneshiek, Worth, and Wright.
Most funded projects assist in the development of educational and interpretive exhibits and programs, infrastructure, and marketing. Projects funded through the grant programs must provide a 1-1 non-federal match to the grant award.
